How can we help?

We’ve answered some of the questions we hear most often. If you cannot find what you are looking for, our pharmacy team is always happy to help.

Extended Pharmacy Services allow trained pharmacists to assess and manage certain common health conditions directly in the pharmacy.

These services can provide convenient access to appropriate treatment and advice without always requiring a GP appointment. The services available and eligibility requirements depend on the healthcare programme and your individual circumstances.

Eligibility depends on the particular pharmacy service, your age, health needs and the applicable funding requirements.

Some funded services may be available only to specific groups. Our pharmacy team can check your eligibility and explain what options are available to you before treatment begins.

For many pharmacy services, an appointment may not be required. You can speak with our pharmacy team and they will let you know how we can help.

If a particular service requires an appointment, our team can arrange this with you.

Costs depend on the service, your eligibility and whether the treatment is funded or privately supplied.

Our pharmacy team will explain any applicable charges before treatment or supply so that you know what to expect.

Depending on the services available at your pharmacy, trained pharmacists may be able to assess and manage common conditions such as:

  • Pain and fever in children
  • Dehydration and oral rehydration needs
  • Conjunctivitis and some eye infections
  • Head lice
  • Scabies
  • Emergency contraception
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Your pharmacist will assess your symptoms and confirm whether the appropriate pharmacy service is suitable for you.

Your pharmacist will ask about your symptoms and relevant health information before assessing whether the pharmacy service is appropriate.

If suitable, they can provide treatment, advice or recommendations. If your symptoms require further assessment, you may be advised to see another healthcare professional.

Consultations should be carried out in a private and confidential setting where available.

If your symptoms are outside the scope of the pharmacy service, appear more serious, or require additional investigation, the pharmacist may recommend seeing a GP, urgent care provider or another appropriate healthcare professional.

Your safety is the priority, and the pharmacist will explain the recommended next step.

Yes. Pharmacy consultations are handled confidentially. Your pharmacist will discuss your health information in a private and professional manner.

We take the privacy of your personal and health information seriously.

Many pharmacy consultations can be provided on the same day, subject to pharmacist availability and the nature of the service.

Speak with our team and we will let you know the quickest available option.

Depending on the service, pharmacist training and local regulations, a pharmacist may be able to assess your condition and supply or prescribe appropriate treatment.

Your pharmacist will explain what treatment is suitable following an individual assessment.

If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for a funded service, our pharmacy team can still discuss your symptoms and available options with you.

  • Provide appropriate health advice
  • Recommend suitable pharmacy or over-the-counter options
  • Explain any applicable costs before treatment
  • Recommend another healthcare provider when appropriate

The options available will depend on your individual needs and the services provided by the pharmacy.

If available, it can be helpful to bring:

  • Photo identification or other identification
  • Any relevant healthcare or eligibility card
  • A list of medicines you currently take
  • Relevant information about your symptoms or health history

If you do not have everything with you, speak with our pharmacy team. We will let you know what information is needed for the service you are requesting.
